LET'S RECYCLE

I believe a home needs some "old" items along with new to give it warmth and character...one way to accomplish this is to up-cycle items that you find at yard sales, antique, thrift or consignment stores. Perhaps there's something you have already but are tired of? Here are a few items I have restored and have used in my home or in someone else's home. What a great way to cut decorating costs!

this was a secretary's desk with water damage on top and sides. i used chalk paint, antiquing glaze and wax to repurpose it into a one-of-kind bar...	this piece had originally been a garden statue, then was wired and made into a lamp. it was painted green and gold, so i used texture spray paint and antiquing glaze to restore it to an original "stone" look. i love that it is a lamp...
this is an old heavy door that i purchased at a local resale shop and made into a table top for my patio. i attached it to two wood pedestal feet then glued rock and metal pieces in each recessed panel to create a mosaic look. i have topped it with a piece of heavy glass for dining...	i bought this small table at a local antique/thrift store. i used chalk paint, antiquing glaze and wax to give it an up-to-date look...
